It’s time to enter the backyard. Backyard Sports has announced the release of its demo for the upcoming Backyard Baseball.
Available now on Steam for both PC and Mac, the demo features the game’s Backyard Derby mode.
Similar to the traditional Home Run Derby, Backyard Derby has you racing against the clock to hit as many home runs as possible. You’ll even get bonus points based on the distance of your home runs.
The demo features three players—Pablo Sanchez, Kenny Kawaguchi, and Kiesha Phillips—and you can play the mode either during the day or at night at the classic Steele Stadium. Players will be able to play solo or against friends, and there’s even a “crazy pitch” mode that has you trying to hit dingers while dealing with a variety of wacky pitches.
recently sat down with Playground Productions founder and CEO Lindsay Barnett and developer Mega Cat Studios founder and CEO James Deighan to talk about Backyard Baseball and the franchise’s return. The full interview will be available later this month, but you can learn about how Barnett managed to secure the rights to Backyard Sports right now.
Backyard Baseball, the first game in the franchise in over a decade, is scheduled to release on July 9 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The goal for Playground Productions and Mega Cat Studios is that this new game is the first in a new lineup of multi-sport titles.
