Development on Tokyo Stories began in July 2022, and with Happinet as its publisher, the project is entering a new phase of development and promotion. As part of that, an early version of the game will be playable at BitSummit PUNCH from May 22 to 24 in Kyoto.
Here is an overview of the game, via Happinet:
About
Tokyo Stories is a 3D adventure game distinguished by its unique visual style, blending pixel art and 3D graphics.
Set in a Tokyo where everyone has disappeared, the game unfolds through multiple intertwining stories. As players piece together numerous fragments of the narrative, they will gradually uncover why the protagonist’s best friend vanished and what this mysterious city is trying to convey.

Gameplay
The game begins with protagonist Suzu arriving in Tokyo at night to search for her missing best friend, Yuno.
Tokyo Stories features a gameplay system that shifts between exploration-based adventure segments, where players investigate the deserted city for clues, and puzzle-driven sections set in a surreal, collapsing version of Tokyo.
Characters
- Suzu (Protagonist) – She comes to the city in search of her best friend, who vanished without a trace.
- Yuno – A girl who vanished into the city without a word as to why.
- Young Man – He comes to the city to conceal a secret he cannot share with anyone.
As their stories unfold, the city begins to reveal its darker nature, and before long, everything descends in an unexpected direction…
