Publisher announced that Phoenix Cyclops will be the game’s first Year 1 downloadable content character.
“Blending the intensity of classic fighting game intros with the style, heart, and energy of iconic early-2000s anime openings, this cinematic opening sets the stage for the battles ahead,” reads the opening movie description.
The opening movie is produced by Japanese animation studio Sanzigen and directed by Daisuke Suzuki. The original theme song, “Stronger as One,” features vocalists Keiko Terada (SHOW-YA) and mayu (NEMOPHILA), with lyrics by Kanata Okajima, and music composed and arranged by MEG (MEGMETAL).
Phoenix Cyclops, voiced by Ray Chase in English, will launch this fall.

“Cyclops is one of Marvel’s most iconic X-Men leaders,” Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka said. “In MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls, however, this version of Cyclops draws inspiration from his Phoenix Five incarnation from Avengers vs. X-Men, sporting a bold new look infused with the fiery cosmic power of the Phoenix Force. In addition to powerful Optic Blasts and exceptional hand-to-hand combat abilities that define the character, this Cyclops also possesses the Phoenix Force, so expect Scott Summers to bring the heat! We’ll have more to share about how these abilities are incorporated into his gameplay, so please stay tuned for future updates on his fighting style.”
As announced earlier, MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls will also feature a collaboration with 
MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls is due out for Epic Games Store on August 6. An open beta test will run from July 24 to 26.
